We are preparing hands-on workshops with local heritage bearers. A first look at what's coming:

Fireworks making workshop

Step into a fireworks workshop and, under a bearer's guidance, learn the traditional steps — rolling tubes, packing powder, inserting fuses — and witness the birth of a firework.

Kaikou Nuo mask painting

Pick a blank Nuo mask, paint it with a master, and take home the ancient patterns that ward off evil and invite blessing.

Xiabu weaving demonstration

Sit at an old loom, feel the sizing and the shuttle, and watch ramie become gossamer grass cloth, thread by thread.

Desheng Drum session

Learn a passage of Desheng Drum beats with the troupe and feel the bold spirit of Wanzai in the thunderous rhythm.
